Getting Started
1. Set up your AI Coach key (BYOK)
MeloMove is bring-your-own-key. Requests go straight from your device to the LLM provider you pick, billed to your account — SYMBOT LTD runs no inference server. The key powers two LLM calls: artist picks when the dial curates a station, and the one-line micro-break suggestion. Gear icon → AI Coach Settings → add a key from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google (Gemini), Qwen, or OpenRouter. On supported devices, Apple Intelligence runs on-device with no key — pick that and skip BYOK.
2. Connect your own Apple Music subscription
MeloMove plays through MusicKit using your Apple Music subscription. Apple Music is the catalogue; MeloMove Pro (separate) pays for the AI layer that picks what fits. Grant Apple Music access on first launch. Without it, the motion ring, history, favourites, and break suggestions still work — only playback needs Apple Music.
3. That's it — start moving
MeloMove reads motion via CoreMotion by default — walk, run, cycle, or drive and the dial picks up the class within seconds, starting a fitting station. Sit at the desk and you'll see STATIONARY; long stillness eventually surfaces a break suggestion. For solo desk setups, opt into Desk Watch (front-camera, on-device only) so the app also catches real desk movement — stretches, shoulder rolls, the start of a workout.
4. Move — or tap
Once motion holds the same class (10s walking, 8s running, 12s cycling, 15s driving, 30s stationary), MeloMove curates a fitting station automatically. Tap the dial for a fresh one any time.
The Canvas
One screen, no scrolling
A single canvas. The status bar fades after 5 seconds so the canvas reads edge-to-edge. When a micro-break is ready the suggestion card slides in below the dial — no gesture required.

The big dial — your moment
Three signals on one surface. • MOTION RING — five bands (STATIONARY · WALKING · RUNNING · CYCLING · DRIVING). The detected band lights up; a small wedge points to it. • ELAPSED TIME — above the ring, mono caps: time in the current motion state. • ROTATING ALBUM COVER — spins vinyl-style while music plays, stops when paused. Small orbits drift in the annulus — peripheral motion for eye rest. The count grows by one per minute of the current class (newest filled, rest outlined) so you can read elapsed motion at a glance.
Music controls
Under the dial: • Prev · Play/Pause · Next. • Track name + artist marquee. • Mic + keyboard + language chips — for asking by voice or text.
Magic & Breaks
Music auto-curates from your motion
Hold the same motion class for a short warm-up (walking 10s, running 8s, cycling 12s, driving 15s, stationary 30s) and a fitting station starts. Skips when music's already playing; won't re-fire the same class twice in a row; 2-minute cooldown after pause.
Favourites play first when the motion matches
Every saved favourite carries the motion class it was saved during. Auto-curated queues lead with those favourites, then fill in with fresh AI picks. Walking → WALKING favourites lead; driving → DRIVING favourites lead. The more you save, the more every queue sounds like you.
Tap the dial for a fresh station
Tap the dial. The AI Coach reads your motion, weather, time, and favourites for the activity, picks five seed artists, searches Apple Music for ~4 tracks each, and plays a 20-track queue. Album cover starts spinning.
Ask by voice or text for the music you want
Under the dial: TXT and MIC buttons. Tap MIC and say what you want ("instrumental for focus", "upbeat for a run"). On-device speech-to-text → AI Coach interprets → queue rebuilds around your ask, biased by motion + time + weather. TXT for typing the same. Each ask counts as one free-tier session; Pro removes the cap.
Double-tap the spinning cover to save
Double-tap the album cover while a track is playing. It lands in Favourites, auto-labelled with the current motion (FOCUS / WALKING / RUNNING / CYCLING / DRIVING). A heart pulses over the cover. No popups. Save liberally — every favourite feeds the favourites-first loop above.
Long-press the cover for the track wiki
Long-press the spinning album cover and a wiki sheet slides up — a short summary of who the artist is and what the song is, plus 4-6 similar-style tracks the AI Coach picked to fit your current activity. Each row has a one-tap play button so you can hop straight into anything that catches your ear.
Skip an artist
Long-press the cover → track wiki opens → tap the red "Don't play [Artist]" chip → confirm. The agent skips the track and excludes the artist from every future curation.
Un-skip an artist
Settings → AGENT → Skipped artists. Tap REMOVE on any row. The list syncs through iCloud, so it follows you to a new device or a reinstall.
When a break is ready — the card slides in
Long stillness → the dial pulses, a cue floats above (STRETCH · 2 MIN / WALK · 5 MIN / BREATHE · 1 MIN), and the break card auto-expands below the dial. BEGIN starts the guided break. MUSIC plays a fitting break-tuned station without the timer (do the move on your own). SNOOZE dismisses for 10 minutes.
Notification on the lock screen
If MeloMove generates a break while the app's closed, you'll see: "Time to ease the body. Tap to see what fits right now." Tapping opens directly to the break card.
Labels — auto + manual
Auto-labels come from the motion at heart-time: FOCUS (at-device / sitting / standing), WALKING, RUNNING, CYCLING, DRIVING. The favourites sheet groups by label with a chip strip across the top. Need a label the motion can't see — WORK, STUDY, SLEEP, BREAK, WORKOUT? Tap any label chip on a track to open the editor. Multi-label.
Save a break card you like
Tap the heart on any break card to save it. Saved breaks land in Favourites → BREAKS with everything they need to run again — the moves, the duration, the break-tuned music seed.
Filter your collection by type
When you've saved across types (MOVEMENT, MOBILITY, RECOVERY, MICROBREAK, WORKOUT), the filter chips narrow the collection to one — so the next gym session pulls up just your WORKOUTs.
Replay a saved card — full break or music only
BEGIN runs the break end-to-end with the live exercise timer. MUSIC plays just the break-tuned audio for when you want the soundtrack while you stretch on your own. Pause, resume, or end the replay whenever you need.
Remove a saved card
Tap the filled heart on a saved card and confirm. Heart the same break again next time it appears to bring it back.
Settings
AI Coach
BYOK from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google (Gemini), Qwen, or OpenRouter. The key powers artist picks and micro-break suggestions. Apple Intelligence is the on-device fallback on supported devices (no key needed).
Theme
Light and Dark. Light is the default. The canvas, sheets, and small dials all follow the choice.
Profile
Name, age, and a few inputs the AI Coach uses to personalise picks. Stored on-device.
Mesh
Opt-in peer-to-peer awareness — share presence + mood with other MeloMove devices on the same network. Off by default.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is there only one screen?
The dial does everything: shows what's happening (motion ring + album cover), lets you act with one tap (curate fresh music) or no taps (auto-curate from motion), and nudges you when a break is due. Everything else lives behind a small dial or a sheet.
Do I need to tap anything to get music?
No. When motion holds the same class for a few seconds (10s walking, 8s running, 12s cycling, 15s driving, 30s stationary), a fitting station starts. Tapping the dial gives you the same on demand.
How do I save a track I love?
Double-tap the dial while a track is playing. It lands in Favourites, auto-labelled with the current motion (FOCUS / WALKING / RUNNING / CYCLING / DRIVING). A heart pulses as confirmation. Heart icon at the top opens the favourites sheet.
How do I change a favourite's label?
Open the favourites sheet (heart icon) and tap any track's label chip. The editor opens with MOTION (auto-set) + CONTEXT (WORK · STUDY · SLEEP · BREAK · WORKOUT) sections. Multi-label.
What are the bouncing orbits around the album cover?
Small circles drifting in the annulus between the cover and the motion ring. The count grows by one per minute of the current class (capped at 20). The newest is filled, the rest outlined — peripheral motion plus an at-a-glance read of elapsed time. Resets when motion class changes.
What does the AI Coach do?
On tap or auto-trigger, it reads your motion, weather, time, and your favourites for the activity. Picks five seed artists, searches Apple Music for ~4 tracks each, dedupes, plays the 20-track queue. Fresh trigger = fresh queue.
What does the motion ring show?
Five bands: STATIONARY · WALKING · RUNNING · CYCLING · DRIVING. CoreMotion classifies your motion every few seconds and lights up the matching band.
What does the album cover spinning mean?
Music is playing. The cover rotates vinyl-style (~8 sec per revolution) while playing, freezes when paused. Small spindle hole at the centre.
When does the dial pulse?
When a micro-break is ready (typically after long stillness). A cue floats above the dial (e.g. STRETCH · 2 MIN) and the break card auto-expands below — no gesture needed.
What's the difference between BEGIN and MUSIC on the break card?
BEGIN starts the guided break (timed sequence). MUSIC plays a fitting break-tuned station without the timer — do the move on your own. SNOOZE dismisses for 10 minutes.
Does MeloMove use the camera?
Only if you opt in. Desk Watch is an opt-in front-camera feature that catches real desk movement (stretches, shoulder rolls, the start of a workout) — off by default. Toggle it via the always-visible DESK WATCH · ON / OFF badge on the dial, or in Settings → Privacy → Desk Watch. Frames are processed on-device by Apple Vision and are NEVER recorded, written to disk, uploaded, or transmitted off-device; only a small classification (still / active / away) flows into the on-device + iCloud-private history. With Desk Watch off, MeloMove uses CoreMotion only and never opens the camera.
Why is my AI Coach key needed (BYOK)?
MeloMove is BYOK — SYMBOT LTD runs no LLM server. Your calls go direct to your chosen provider, billed to your account. The key powers artist picks + micro-break suggestion text. Apple Intelligence is the on-device fallback on supported hardware (no key needed).
What does Pro unlock?
Unlimited AI-driven music curation. Free tier = 20 trial sessions; Pro removes the cap. $2.99/month with a 7-day free trial, via the App Store, family-shareable. Pro does NOT include Apple Music — that's a separate Apple subscription required for playback. The two stack: Apple Music for the catalogue, MeloMove Pro for the AI on top.
Does MeloMove track calories or nutrition?
No. MeloMove is focused: motion → fitting music + break suggestions when stillness piles up. Nothing else.
Where is my data stored?
On your device. Favourites, motion segments, break gems — all local. AI Coach key in the iOS Keychain. Outbound calls: (a) your chosen LLM provider, (b) Apple Music search/play.
Can I use MeloMove offline?
Already-queued tracks work (Apple Music handles offline). New curations need internet for the LLM call + Apple Music search. Favourites browse offline.
How does the mood-aware part of the picks work?
MeloMove never asks for a mood. It composes one from observable signals: stillness time, motion type, weather, hour, recent mesh peers (if mesh is on). That composed mood biases the artist picks.
How do I stop an artist from playing?
Long-press the cover → track wiki opens → tap "Don't play [Artist]" → confirm. The agent excludes them from every future curation. Manage the list at Settings → AGENT → Skipped artists.
